The 1098T form is used for tuition reporting for the Hope and Lifetime Scholarship benefits. The Bursar’s Office is responsible for generating 1098T forms for U.S. citizens and nonresident eligible aliens who attended Caltech half-time or more between January 1 and December 31, and whose tuition payments were more than the aid received during the tax reporting year. We will also manually prepare a form for non-citizens who request it. Although we are unable to give tax advice the IRS website and publication 970 can be very helpful for you to determine if you qualify for the tax benefit.
The 1098T form is accessible online on the Tax Credit Reporting Service (TCRS) site at www.1098-T.com.
